Decorative (Tsutsumi) Birds for Sale

These one-of-a-kind birds are made with a final covering of reused printed wrapping paper or other purely decorative papers. I call them "tsutsumi" birds since that references the Japanese concept of careful and artful wrapping or packaging. Many of these papers are thick and soft and a dream to work with - they conform to the armature surface beautifully, even though they are thick. The patterned tissue papers produce subtle effects with layering as colors and patterns show through. Some papers are more difficult to manipulate (like thick envelope liners), but they are so lovely, I can’t resist using them.
